Unless he or she has studied the subject, asked a lot of people for information, and done some window shopping, the matter may be an afterthought at the end of a bike sale or something that you have to rush to get done before riding the used bike you are buying. As a result, you may simply buy a helmet that looks like you want it to or one that the dealer suggests.
A rider should select a helmet that cover more of his/her face which gives the most protection against the hazard connected with driving on road. There is more to fitting a helmet than just buying one that matches you. For buying a helmet you should measure your head at its largest circumference. Try it several times and take average of it so that you know your head size and according to your head size choose your helmet.
While choosing a helmet one should make sure it meets the maximum safety standards. Different standards are available like ISI, DOT, Snell, ECE etc for selecting the helmet as per your preference standard. one must look for its sticker on inside or outside of the helmets while selecting one.
